Re: Man Survives Vicious Mauling by Bear in Alaska… Barely.
The bear must have been scared off, or maybe the guide had some tactic-or pepper , because looks like almost entirely head wounds. Something must have stopped the bear or we would likely more injuries? Lucky guy, and bush women Must dig scars-right? |

A bear there was, a bear, a bear! all black and brown, and covered with hair. The bear! The bear! Oh come they said, oh come to the fair! The fair? Said he, but I'm a bear! All black and brown, and covered with hair! And down the road from here to there. From here! To there! Three boys, a goat and a dancing bear! They danced and spun, all the way to the fair! |

Not hunting, baiting. The guide goes a few days before and fills a spot with all kinds of sweets and rotting meat, he gets the bear used to feeding. He then brings the big brave hunter dude in, they hide in a tree stand and wait for the bear to come and eat. Easy pickings. Cowards way of hunting, it's how it's been done here for years, Americans pay big money for this exciting game of chance...

Almost looks fake to me. Seriously, if his face was smashed open like that, would he still be able to prop himself up? Looks more like an axe to the face than a bear claw. And no actual name was released.

Re: Man Survives Vicious Mauling by Bear in Alaska… Barely.
⚠️77 year old bear hunter was attacked and mauled by a grizzly bear! Wes P. is from Alaska, and he knows he's lucky. Life will never be the same after the unfortunate bear attack that nearly cost him his life. It was essentially a bear hunt gone bad, a routine and pleasant hunt that took a turn for the worse when he came across the wrong bear at the wrong time. Rather than fleeing like most usually do, the bear fed into it's fighting instinct, as it likely felt threatened. "I had to dig stuff out of my airway to breathe," he wrote. "If I was unconscious, I would have died. Also, as long as I lay still just right I was able to keep my airway open. I could not move my face sideways or my airway would close. I know if I lost consciousness, I would probably die. Fortunately for him he was with two partners who managed to kill the bear and get him to the hospital. Four months after the attack, Wes is able to get around on his own, but is far from being back to life as he knew it. Doctors had to use part of his fibula to create a jaw to replace what the bear ripped off of his face. His left eye, which sees only light and dark, weeps constantly and has problems with articulation because he speaks with only half a tongue. |
