hope this isnt a stupid question, but with cases like this, would there be anything between the scalp and brain to protect the brain from injury? Like if i poked that hole would i feel his brain under there?  Ive heard of them putting metal plates on skulls, why dont they put something like that on this guy and that John Graziano dude so its atleast shaped like a complete skull instead of having that big hole there?? |

He is poor, has no health insurance and lives in a Third World Country with hardly a government. His trauma is too great to impose further medical treatment. He most likely stabilized for his personal condition.

This guy is in a much better condition. Judging from the photo, he can stand/sit, hold his head upright, turn it and touch his head. Graziano is a vegetable.
