This happened in Malasia, when 24 year old Izanuddin Mohd Hisham Muhammad got run over by a vehicle while driving his motorcycle crushing his skull and making him lose part if his brain. He was in a coma for about 3 months before he started to respond and to show signs of recovery.

I assume that his quality of life is not the same one now, but just the fact that he is still alive is amazing.
