It took 9 doctors and 960 minutes (16 hours) of painstaking work to remove 110kg of unnecessary flesh. During the operation the unusual patient received 5000ml of blood, which is more than the entire amount an adult’s body holds.

He suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue. He was born with a dark birth mark on the right side of his lower back.

At the age of nine it started growing into a tumour, by 12 it was the size of a fist and he had surgery to remove it. But it quickly started to grow again seriously affecting his life, the 37-year-old man could only lie down or sit on his bed.

Chief surgeon Chen Minliang said, "We have seen neurofibromatosis patients before, but this is the biggest nerve tumor we ever saw. The patient is now recovering well and it expected to be discharged later this month.

Looks like molten flesh is pouring out the side of him, and he has a bewildered look wondering where it's coming from.

The immediate reaction is always "Why the hell did they let it reach this point?" then you realize that a lot of the people who have these horrible diseases come from poor countries with sometimes non-existent medical care. So a lot of the time family members or friends will desperately try to plead the patient's case with physicians from Western countries until someboddy steps up and says they'll volunteer to help if it can be done.
