I knew a guy that had about 25% of his brain destroyed. He had to live in an assisted living facility, but, he could still talk and run simple errands. His condition was kind of like a recovering stroke victim. He would lose his train of thought as he spoke, had difficulty remembering things and had to have what he was doing written down or else he would lose track of what he was doing in the middle of doing it. He said that the doctors were amazed that he lived and that he was as functional as he was. He still had bullet fragments in his head that were leaching lead and the area where the brain had been destroyed was packed with some kind of plastic material. His head looked dimensionally correct. He was formerly a Sheriff's Deputy that pulled a car over in order to ticket the driver and someone across the street shot him in the head with a 30-30. It was suspected that the shooter was a gang member. I knew this guy from many years before when he was a clean cut clean living young guy. A real straight arrow, very decent, salt of the earth, physically fit, handsome, smart and a quick witted type. Sad that someone did this to him. |

I had a kid working for me as a laborer during the early 1990's. We were employed on a uranium mill tailings cleanup. On his day off, he had a .22 semi auto rifle on the passenger side of his vehicle. The rifle was pointed upward from the floor of the front passenger seat, and leaning against the front of the seat. Somehow it tipped over and shot him in the head. He ended up look very much like this, thought the flat spot was more on the side, than the top of his head. It looked freaky.
