Re: Man Bitten by a Giant Rattlesnake
God...I just went back and looked at how many of you actually believe the snake is that large. THEY DONT GET THAT BIG... Forced perspective: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_perspective Another example of someone trying to fool people: http://www.livingalongsidewildlife.c...ttlesnake.html And the article explaining how it is done and why it is a TRICK of the eye: http://www.livingalongsidewildlife.c...ttlesnake.html |

Glad we have Timber Rattlesnakes and not Diamond backs, here. Timber venom is waaay milder and often doesn't even need anti-venom. Makes you sick, yeah, but not rot. Sheesh! |

Re: Man Bitten by a Giant Rattlesnake
I don't know where you got your info from, but there is NO rattlesnake species on the planet that does not require anti-venom treatment. And yes, Timber Rattlesnake bites do indeed cause necrosis like the pics in this thread. Matter of fact, many rattlesnake species in the U.S. are becoming more potent than they already were and biologists are trying to figure out why. The only venomous snake in the U.S. you *might* be able to get away with no anti-venom treatment is the Copperhead, which is the least venomous of all the vipers in North America, but even then you still risk necrosis and infection. |

Re: Man Bitten by a Giant Rattlesnake
I was bitten on the back of my heel as a kid playing around an old cave. I sat down and my friend tied my tee shirt around my ankle and I grabbed a stick and twisted it to cut off circulation> My buddy ran down the hill and got his mom to take me to the Dr. (Back in the 50's we didn't have a hospital) and ended up taking me to the Vet because he was closer! It was a purple balloon by then and they drained, cleaned the wound, excised flesh and gave me an anti-venom shot....Our doctor showed up about 30 minutes later and took over. I have a pretty good scar but never had any ill effects. My friend and I were in the same Cub Scout Den and had just been given a first-aide class on that very thing!....It worked!
