Liver Failure
This is a friend of mine who has liver failure from alcohol abuse. He's just turned 40. He looked okay until the beginning of December, then it just went downhill fast. He's not even the heaviest drinker I know either. There is no possibility of him even going on the list for a liver transplant, it's game over.

You can save your sympathy, he has no living family members. And the post was not to gain yours or anyone else's sympathy. It was to raise awareness of how fast this can happen and how dangerous alcohol can be. A lot of people think you have to be a raging alcoholic to kill yourself with drink but that isn't always true. It sure helps, but you can get like this just by partying hard. |

Sometimes it's not about choices, and all of you old DR member should know it... I have a friend of mine who was in better, but similar condition. Few friends gather some money /2500Euro/ and put him in a clinic for a month. He is now close to normal person sober for almost 3 years. I'm currently drinking vodka, cheers! |

No statistics from me, just what I think. I think most people see it as legal, so it is not dangerous. Same for weed, it’s only weed. But things like cocaine and heroin, they are not legal (America at least, think cocaine has limited medical applications for a general anesthetic though, could be wrong on that) so they are dangerous. Just my thought, could be wrong. Sorry for your friend, even if he did get himself there the approach should not be fuck this guy. |
