Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
These are DR exclusive images since I got them from someone I know. A six year old boy's foot was chewed off by a family pet, pit bull. The young boy was born with Spina Bifida so he has no feelings/sensation below his knees. The dog never attacked or show signs of aggression but it likes to lick people's feet. The boy's older brother saw the dog eating his little brother's foot like it was some chewy snack one night while the little brother was sleeping. The dog was put down and the rest of the foot was amputated.  ·  ·  · |

what a horrific wound.  only thing positive is that the boy didn't feel anything. i wouldn't let any dog near a sleeping baby/toddler without supervision.

There have been cases where people left dogs/puppies with babies and had them be partially eaten, because of a dirty diaper. Dogs don't know they're hurting you, if you don't respond. It's quite disturbing, but there is no aggression involved. One of the many cautions of having a meat eating animal in your house, and not supervising them with your children. |

The first woman to have a successful face transplant, needed it because her Labrador Retriever ate her face. She was high on medication and didn't wake up when the dog was licking her. It escalated. |

The dog probably thought he wasn't doing wrong as the child wasn't showing any pain.

I'm kind of bummed they put down the dog. I do understand why they did it, but the natural instinct of many animals is to lick a wound clean... and unless there's some reaction to tell them to stop, they will just keep doing it because they are rather dependent on that feedback to know when enough is enough. Poor kid. |
