Re: Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
I am not sorry for the dog, and do not like pit bulls!

It sucks they put the dog down. Probably licked, chewed, and kept chewing because there was no reaction. He didn't attack the kid, just chewed like dogs do...

Re: Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
Poor kid? It didn't feel anything, and probably couldn't use said foot anyway. More like poor dog being executed for following instinct. Shame they didn't put the child down when they found out it was defective, as is custom with most "pets"

Re: Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
I'm all for supervising pets around people, but this was a 6 yr old, and I'm assuming it was during the night since he was sleeping, so I think this falls at least a *little* outside of the general "supervise dogs around children" realm.

Re: Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
To those who don't think the dog should have been put down, what do you think should have been done? I can 100% understand if the family didn't want the dog anymore, and pitbull rescues tend to be swamped with too many dogs and might not be keen on taking on a dog that ate a kid's foot off.

Re: Little Boy's Foot is Chewed Off by a Pit Bull
When I hear of stuff like this, I often wonder if it's a natural instinct in animals when something is damaged (so to speak) to kill it because it couldn't survive on it's own. I've seen several situations personally that just made me wonder.... At least the boy couldn't feel it.
