Eating disorders are highly fatal because it becomes an obsession and people have an irrational fear of certain foods, calories, or fear things like bloating, sickness, or allergies from food. Or they feel pain with eating. Refeeding syndrome is also a concern as well. |

I totally agree with you. Thankfully I have never had to experience a loved one starving the self's to death. I have how ever seen a few cons go on hunger strike and after a few days the screws will get consent from the shitty prison doctor to force feed by tube. But of course what that actually means is they are going to beat the shit out of you at the same time. So that's generally the end of it. So why this beautiful young lady willing hurts her parents, friends and family knowing gull well she is going to die and they do nothing to save her life is beyond me. They should of absolutely save her life, if its so intolerable for her, put her in a coma, feed her with the iv food people without a digestives tract (cancer, injury what ever) live of everyday. She can't be thinking correctly starving anyway, she may wake up after 3 months with a different attitude. There should be a line and when she crosses it there should be action |

When you're an adult, no one is allowed to force feed you unless you consent to it. I've battled with anorexia since I was in my early teens and my family tried to intervene to no avail because I denied anything was wrong. Fortunately I've never dropped to a dangerously low weight.

Actually it is. Cancer related anorexia is a real thing and definately kills people. Anorexia takes many forms not just the traditional disordered eating you see here.

That's not Anorexia. That's the effects of Cancer. Also it's typically women and girls who suffer from Anorexia - not old men. Anorexia is a psychological illness, linked to Body Dysmorphia - the sufferer believes herself to be grossly overweight and stops eating. Even when she is skeletal she still looks upon herself as fat. Cancer is a physical illness.
