I raised a pet spider from a baby to an adult back in 2003. It was in my bathroom window, so it wasn't a threat. I fed dead flies for weeks, and watched it grow into a full adult wolf spider. Then one day it disappeared. A week later, it was in my bed crawling on my arm and torso, so I killed the bastard.
