Re: How to Break Your Arm Like a Fucking Boss
At speeds of more than 8 miles per hour, impacts with a hard surface can cause leg or ankle fractures, we are fragile beings lol. Future gymnasts tend to be chosen at a very young age; for me anyway, growing up in Romania, the children are picked at 6-6.30 years of age; the taller kids go on to do basketball, tennis, handball, so naturally the smaller kids go on to do gymnastics; they have medical specialists on hand during the selection process, measuring arms and legs,(longer arms=longer "reach", bit like aeroplanes lol); the recognised standard for preferred body type are broader shoulders, narrow hips, longer arms and legs, shorter torso; the thinking goes along the lines of longer arms can make more artistic movements, also better for work on asymmetric bars, (remember the longer "reach"?); the trainers also look at the parents even the grandparents for an idea of how the child will grow, but really, theres no way of influencing the childs growth realistically. Also the gymnasts are put onto a diet with an emphasis on fruit, milk, cheese, protein, so I doubt that deficiencies are the cause of injuries. Its the endless impacts, the endless repetitions, which cause the injuries. Some kids handle it better than others thats all.

Re: How to Break Your Arm Like a Fucking Boss
yup. took it like a man. but it was his clumsy clumping on the mat with no grace that did it. stamping appendages to strong in every touch on the floor. it should have been like just a continous surface roll with you as a ball rolling. not jerking.
