Zhang Lan was scalped, and lost an ear, after her hair was caught in a feeding machine

These photos show the horrifying injuries suffered by a woman after she was scalped in an accident at a chicken farm.
All of her skin, from eyebrows to the neck, was peeled off after her hair got caught in a feeding machine
Zhang - whose family runs the chicken farm - was alone preparing the feed for the birds when the terrifying accident took place in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Despite her injuries Zhang was able to call for her family and she was rushed to hospital.
One of the doctors involved in her treatment said: "The whole head is like a bloody ball".
Her sister said: "Her long hair was grabbed by the feeding machine.
"She was strong enough to push against the machine until she dropped to the ground after great pains.
"She struggled up, and felt hot and sticky liquid covered her face."
Zhang underwent surgery to reattach her scalp.
One of the surgeons said: "We needed to clean the peeled off head skin, shave the hair, and locate and sew up the broken vessels with the help of microscopes."
She is now in a stable condition and doctors are optimistic that the reattachment surgery has been a success.
