People should realise that this happens all the time, and most people only care if they're old or children.

Re: Homeless Woman In India

ask Rick Wagoner about that when 500,000 people will be without jobs when GM finishes up it's bankruptcy while he made over $15mil last year.
That would be an example of what is screwed up. It happened all over Wall Street - the banking industry, insurance, etc. Which boils down to corruption and politics.
In the meantime, those of us who have more to do than just worrying about Rick Wagoner's greed can perhaps figure out ways to make what we DO have control over work better.

I think most people have more sympathy toward children and the elderly because they are, statistically, not in a position to help themselves out of their situation. Often, they are victims of circumstance, whereas many (but not all, I know) young adults and middle-aged people have at least a little more in the way of ability to help get themselves out of their situation, albeit with assistance.
BUT -- until we have walked a mile in another person's shoes (that is, if they are blessed enough to HAVE shoes), then we cannot know why they are at the point they are. It may be totally their fault. It may not be their fault at all. But, barring a complete nose-thumbing and blatant expectation of others to take care of them, I am one of those citizens who is more than happy to give what I can, if it might make the difference between someone staying down on the ground, or being able to struggle to their feet. Sometimes, the smallest things make the biggest difference, and most of us can do those things without blinking an eye.

As part of the Hindu religion, the final stage of life involves complete rejection of all materialistic things. This includes house, family and indulgences. These could be these individuals (also known as 'ascetics' )

I care about anyone in need, regardless of age. Yes, older people tug at my heart more, but still. I'm a caring person that would do what ever I can to help someone in need. I have done so and will continue to do so. I'm not saying I would help her just because she's an old woman. I'm saying I would help her to help her, no matter what.

Re: Homeless Woman In India

Thank you and I'm glad someone thinks so. Most of the time, I get shit on for what I do. People saying it's not worth it and that people die everyday. I'm well aware of that, but if doing something simple can at least make someone comfortable and happy, even for a little while, then it's worth it for me.
