Re: Helluva Nosebleed
Edit, he'd bled twice from the nose earlier in the day but only for one or two minutes and was successful in staunching the flow. kellyhound |

Re: Helluva Nosebleed
Ah, feel you. Had to be taken to a hospital by an ambulance for nosebleeds 4 or 5 times. First one was the worst: I got up and my nose makes this "blub blub blub"-noise and I cup my hands under it and it was like a waterfall of blood: There was a river of blood from the couch to the bathroom, my dog was covered in blood, my floor was covered, my walls, my phone... Had to call my mom who lived in the building next to mine and she could not understand me cause it sounded like I was under water. Luckily she heard me yelp "Help" and came over. Still remember the thud of her steadying herself at the front door frame because she felt queasy from seeing all the blood. She thought I had been stabbed and went in to a shock. After doing all the usual tricks(pressure, ice on neck, ice in mouth, ice on nose) I couldn't stand up anymore and we had to call ambulance. Still sad about the ruined Juicy Couture dress I was wearing Now I have these bleeding bags and I have to call an ambulance once I hit 500ml. |

Re: Helluva Nosebleed
The same exact thing happened to me when I was 7 years old, I was rushed to the hospital and it eventually stopped by itself when I was being analyzed. They had no good explanation of what the problem was cause it just started for no good fucking reason. |

Re: Helluva Nosebleed
So the doctor said because his nose is so scarred from past drug abuse (my partner is 7 years clean and sober) his nose developed a crack in it because of the sneezing/picking/coughing/etc. This is a chronic condition for him. Essentially, the furnace is up too high in the house, he's not using his humidifier, and now he has to put polysporin up his shnozz and use his humidifier and if it happens again then he's being sent to a specialist. Doctor ordered bloodwork too, which they already did at the hospital, and checked his general health. He's had his nose broken a couple of times and so the left nostril where he keeps bleeding from is completely buggered to begin with. He appreciates everyone's concern and is totally excited I got to post some of our very own gore. |

Re: Helluva Nosebleed
So, basically a septal perforation? That's what I have had since... 2006 from a motorcycle accident. Been operated for 14 times now of I remenber correctly. Bitch of a thing to fix, cause there is no "one size fits all"-solution. I've has mucosa transplants, cartilage transplants, artificial mucosa transplant, vein removals, burning shut vessels, inserted silicone plates... you name it. There has been no fix and there most likely never will be, but the thing that has helped the most is to have this kinda ..silicone button with plates protecting the septum from both sides + religious coconut oil use in my nose. Doesn't fix the problem entirely, but it stops most of the big nose bleeds, unless the button moves and hits blood vessel or something. Good luck to him! Hopefully you'll find a relatively easy fix for him. |
