Re: Hand of Child Burned Off
Poor sweet angel. What happpened I wonder? And why are they using my old greenhouse frame to keep the covers off him. Must be a poor hosp using old equipment. Either the poor baby is in deep shock or very good pain meds. An innocent young life forever altered. |

Re: Hand of Child Burned Off
Looks like electric burns, see how the hand is "claw" shaped electricity shortens the tendons rapidly (locking your hands onto the source) probably a power cable grabbed it with both hands. Poor poor kid, and as a morphine user (for severe pain) for about 6 years now, I would put his peaceful looks down to a heavy constant flow of morphine :(

Re: Hand of Child Burned Off
Just letting you guys know, the morphine will not stop his pain, only dull it a bit. A member posted that they have been on morphine for pain management, but this (pain management) is a different kind of diagnosis with a completely different medical approach. If I would have to guess, I would think they are on OxyIR or Kadian. This child would be receiving straight up pure morphine via IV. The extent of the burns shows me that he would still be feeling acute pain. For that degree of a burn, the nerve endings would be damaged and it would be like they were on fire constantly. DAMN, I am dreading my pre-med rotation in the pediatric burn unit...........
