How is it old blood? How would "old blood" get in to an enlarged hair follicle and then be in there so long to go dark brown, but no red blood is seen? And surely if the bacteria was attached to a blood supply then infection would be body wide also. It's not uncommon for one of these cysts to link to the intestine.

If he had previously been squeezing/agitating the cyst, it can cause blood vessels to break, leaking blood into the area. The vessels would heal, not continue to pump blood into it. You're right, if there was a constant supply of blood to the area, the infection would pump through his system. Sepsis. |
