Gunshot
This man was recently shot twice, once in the lower leg and once in the femoral artery. 10 hour surgery to fix the femoral artery. Below are pictures of his lower leg where they had to cut it open to relieve pressure and to drain it. |

Compartment syndrome. I had a post-op infection years ago, left elbow. Doc brought it up. I got lucky. Fasciotomy is a surgery to relieve swelling and pressure in a compartment of the body. Tissue that surrounds the area is cut open to relieve pressure. Fasciotomy is most often needed in the leg, but it may also be done in the arm, hand, foot, or abdomen.
