Re: Is This Girl Albino or What?
bless her. my son has ocular albinism. it wasn't until he got to 3 months old that we found out. he wasn't focusing his eyes on anything and his eyes jittered from side to side (nystagmus) so we took him to an opthamologist (sp?) turned out im an x linked ocular albinism carrier, we had no idea. my family have been all women for generations and because the women are carriers and the men "have" the condition we had no idea. its very interesting. it effects his eyes mainly, he has near normal pigment in his hair and skin and no pigment in his eyes. his actual eyesight seems ok, its the associated photophobia he has trouble with, due to the no pigment. light hurts his eyes. he has dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes, me and my partner have very dark brown hair and eyes. i get people i've met for the first time asking if he is my nephew or a son of a friend, and when i say he's ours i always get funny looks. im sure they think we've adopted or stolen him lol. im currently expecting my second child (due september) and we find out on the 7th of may the sex. so we can prepare in a sense, if its a boy theres a 50/50 chance he'll have it and if its a girl theres a 50/50 chance she'll be a carrier sorry for the long post, but i dont get to talk about it much lol helps me get it straight in my head, because i still find it a bit confusing lol heres a more accurate explaination if your interested NOAH — Ocular Albinism |
