Re: Ghana - Woman Falls Trying To Escape Fire
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 60 year old Felicia Opoku who is alleged to be the root cause of the Kumasi Kejetia Market fire incident which occurred on 16th March 2023. The command of the Ghana National Fire Service reported the suspect to the police regarding the event, and the suspect was then detained on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Police have not yet approved a bail bond for the lady who sells rubber mats. According to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who visited the market, preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service have found that the fire was started by a shop owner who was cooking in her business. The dumb bint was cooking in her shop using a gas stove and that was where the fire started, close to a nearby chemical shop, where they sell gunpowder, carbide, turpentine that resulted in the explosion. Reuben Ameh, the general secretary of the Joint Traders Association at the Kejetia Market, said they have not yet visited her. Security personnel have been stationed there to secure the area, and the Kejetia extension that caught fire has been closed off to trading. |
