Yes, stuff like this can be really bad. People hear about it so much without actually seeing it, and they become complacent about it-whoever knew that herpes could get so bad?

I ended up with anal warts from a woman who had the virus but wasn't showing signs of them, was using protection, but fingers go everywhere. Six months of repeated nuke-and-pave of my anus with podofilotoxin finally got rid of them, with no relapses after 4 years, but I still have to keep an eye on it. Even when you think you're playing it safe, things can sneak up on you, unfortunately.

You know, having an S.T.D. can suck big-time, but the stigma of it needs to be torn down completely.
Just because you might contract one does NOT mean that person is a slutt, dirty, filthy, or anything like that.
It simply means that they trusted the wrong person or made a mistake.
And they shouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed.
1in 6 people now have Herpes.

1.8 million are infected with A.I.D.s.

1.2 million have H.I.V. and of that 1.2 million, 1 in 7 people do not even know they have it.

Syphilis? 70,000 per year, 5,833 per month, 1,346 per week, 191 per day, 7 per hour.

Chances are that you already know someone who has an S.T.D.
What can you do for them (if you know!)?
It's simple-be their friend. Let them know that you still care. Let them know that you don't think any less of them.
And more importantly, let them know that you are there to listen if they need to talk.
And above all, don't be afraid to care about or love them.
No S.T.D. has ever been transmitted through a hug.
