Eek. I've heard of the rice thing too, but never had to do it. I was lucky enough to be raised "sane" Irish-Catholic. I'll take a nun with a ruler over that crap ANY day of the week.

Parents told me about this, corn also works but rice hurts more apparently.

Just rethinking through the frozen peas torture. Wouldn't they unfreeze and then just turn into mushy peas? Kneeling on mushy peas doesn't sound so bad. I will give the rice grains a miss, unless it's a rice pudding.
