Re: Fingernail Issues

YESSS!!!!!

Man... I cannot stand anything pointy near my eyes.. AT ALL...... HATE it..
Ever since I was a child... walking through stores etc. the peg boards that have the pegs/rods sticking out with products for sale hanging off of them... GAHHHHH!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid and had my first fear of stuff poking me in the eyes.. Was the pegboards in a
store.. Had this phobia that I will trip and fall headfirst into them, successfully stabbing my eyes and/or having the mixer effect on my brain...
(I was about 7-8 years old when this phobia came about.... I was a fucked up kid I guess...)

Didn't help that I'm from the city, so lots of stores and mall crawling for me back in the day.

Fingernails though? I'm fine until something stabs under the nail.. or I trim my nail too short.. that shit hurts for a day or 3..
Not too long ago, was rewiring my basement in the dark, at night, with a bunch of flashlights for light source.. on a ladder, hanging electrical junction boxes with a drill and drywall screws..
(Does not sound good..)
Well, holding the box with one hand and using same hand to hold the screw, drill in other hand trying to drive the screw in .. got the screw started into the wood, My drill bit slipped.. and screw tipped over..
Ganked my index finger.. pinned my finger between the bit and the inside of the steel junction box.
Ripped the nail up from the nail bed and chewed up the nail bed a bit.. Didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as I was scared it would. ..

Healing was the worst part..(like usual..)

I did let go of the trigger as soon as I realized what happened.. 24V cordless drill... wanted to GO!...

Thank you for sharing, Minty

I didn't have a particular incident start that fear, but, touching my eyeball once when I had contacts and how gooey it was, didn't help, and I know once you lose your sight, it's pretty much gone.

Re: Fingernail Issues

Haha yes a lot of people will be able to relate to that one! Strangely, that doesnt bother me at all; enucleated eyeballs??? meh, bring it on all day long Actually eyeballs are the "black box" equivalent in the human body. They can withstand pure amounts of trauma and emerge, quite literally emerging sometimes, unscathed!!
They feel so gooey though

Had to look that up.

Thank you. I like learning new things here

Re: Fingernail Issues

Nothing to do with texture for me.. Just one of those places.. Can't do it.. If I ever require aid of sorts for my eyesight? I'll be wearing spectacles.
I'd be more comfortable playing with a length of my intestine than my eyes..
(I've had two hernias..2nd one had to push it in the abdomen every so often or would start to hurt.)
Will not touch my eyes.. nope.. No way..

As for injuries and healing and foreign objects causing lack of sight?.. loss of vision has little to do with my phobia.. I get the feeling one would from claustrophobia when objects, sharp or dull pointed at near my eyes...

I KNOW it isn't a imminent danger (Most times).. But it near paralyzes me in fear having something pointy aimed at my eyes.. or looking at something inanimate and pointy/sharp in close proximity just the same..

(As stated before. The pegboards in stores on their walls/aisles.. Walking a few feet away from them and looking at them.. A little is all it takes. )
