Re: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
When I was in rehab 5 years ago. The one counselor there told us a story about how he was a counselor/caregiver for a home for people that were adults that have FASD. Obviously they were in a bad way. But..the thing is, this was his job while he was still drinking and using drugs.. He told us this to show how fucked up people are while using... What's so fucked up you ask? Well.. he would take these people that had fetal alcohol syndrome out to the bar on a nightly basis so they could drink and he could drink (was mainly so he could drink on the job and no one would complain.).. Now...as you could imagine..there were a lot of people saying wtf as it was a house with about 20 guys who were all present standing there for our group for that hour. (We had 10-12 hours of back-to-back group therapy at the rehab I went to.) And then..there was the 4 or 5 who were like... "Yeah? and your point is?"... Crazy shit.. |

Re: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
People who drink while pregnant and result in a child with fetal alcohol syndrome should be legally charged. |

Re: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
I remember an episode of ER where a heavily pregnant woman had been arrested for public intoxication and kept telling the docs that she didn't want treatment, she was drinking specifically to get rid of the baby, the baby ruined her life, etc., and one of the doctors called the cops on her to report her for attempted murder. And I remember my sister-in-law being freaked out all throughout her first pregnancy because she found out she was pregnant (around 6 weeks along) a few days after she and my brother had a night out on the town, with the usual drinking that comes with the territory. Thankfully my sweet little nephew is a normal, healthy, smart athletic little joy. |

Re: Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Congratulations on your healthy nephew! It seems some people who stop the moment they find out have a good change of delivering healthy babies. My great nephew was 4 Saturday. He didn't have any medical issues, but, I thought I'd share. He's a character! xx <3 |
