Everyone here seems to believe this is just a fad that people are going through. In some cases, it IS, but in the overwhelming majority of cases this is nothing more than helping a person become their true self. No different than a woman who wants bigger boobs. I've stated this before, but I'm sure those parents who allowed their children to undergo reassignment surgery were only doing what they thought was best for their child, what they believed the child really wanted. In some cases, they were tragically wrong, and that is why I personally feel that reassignment surgery should only be performed either once the individual is of age or if they emancipate themselves from their parents, and only after an exhaustive evaluation to ensure this is what the individual really wants.

A generalization not backed up by evidence. I'm sure most women regret that they have to have periods once a month; that most men regret that they don't have the skills to engage the woman they are attracted to.
