We should feel so sorry for this person and hope that whatever deep seeded problem she has going on in her life that causes her to do this gets better very soon. This level of self injury comes from deep severe pain probably suffered as a child. Pain that has obviously never been addressed pyschologically.

mostly often comes from severe abuse (most often first occurring during a very young age ) that causes such emotional pain that the mutilation, although painful is like a release of the emotional pain which is much more painful. many people who do the self mutilation are embarrassed (such as in the case of long term sexual abuse , emotional and mental abuse occurring at home with parents seen by the community, church, school,etc. , as "good parents") or are too scared of repucusions if seek help to address emotional/mental issues that the self injurious behaviors is their only way to cope with the severe, most often unspeakable abuse suffered. more often than not, physical pain is not nearly as hurtful as emotional/ mental pain and feelings of betrayal..

I don't even think she's that much depressed. I actually think she has become addicted to self mutilating herself. Cutting and slicing herself gives her an unparralled high. As long as she doesn't graduate to torturing kittens or babies then I have no problem with how she chooses to live HER life.

Emla cream doesn't even numb deep enough for tattoos, it's not helping this girl that's for sure. Numbing defeats the purpose anyway.
