Diseased Uteruses and Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition in which the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrium) grows in other areas of the body, causing pain, irregular bleeding, and possible infertility.

Re: Diseased Uteruses and Endometriosis
I hate to bump, but I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis May 5 2011. Endo is one of the "invisible" diseases that people who don't have it couldn't possibly understand how badly it can alter your life. I've lost a job because of having to miss work so often due to the crippling pain, I can't even count how many days of high school I missed before I was diagnosed. My greatest desire is to be a mother and that might not happen (in my own body that is, everyone sort of dispassionately tells me that I can adopt, but I want my own children, from my own womb). Everyone I talked to about the pain would say "Oh suck it up it can't be that bad." Then when I had the exploratory surgery, the doctor said it was about as bad as it can get without having to remove parts of your colon or bladder. He showed pictures to my parents, the first thing my mother did when I woke up was to hug me and tell me she was sorry for all the times she thought I was crying wolf about how badly I was hurting. The doctor was so concerned he actually asked me if I had been sexually assaulted. |

Re: Diseased Uteruses and Endometriosis
Yes, endo can be such a pain in the ass. I have a few friends who suffer from it and based on their stories, I can just imagine how horrible and disabling that condition must be. Painful intercourses, painful periods, painful you-name-it...oh shit, nature must have a really twisted sense of humor in cases like these |
