Dermatophagia
Dermatophagia describes the condition of an individual with a compulsion or habit, either conscious or subconscious, that results in that person biting their own skin. The researchers considered this condition analogous to other self-mutilating disorders such as hair pulling or nail biting.

I dated a girl in '84 that bit her nails and nail beds. I couldn't get her to stop. She said it was either biting her nails or smoking, take your pick. I went with option 3, breaking up.

My cuticles are scarred up from when I would pull loose skin from them. But never to this extreme, I don't do it anymore either.
