Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
The back is a tough place, but I figure if you can reach it to pick, you can reach it to do this - to start healing up and help with the scarring, put some Manuka Honey on a bandage and cover the bad spots. It has anti-bacterial properties and it's actually used in preparations used for diabetic wound healing and similar. You can get it in most health food stores.

Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
I have had this for as long as I can remember. I have picked until i've left scars on my legs/arms/face. My scalp is my favorite spot and I didn't realize I was doing it while lurking around DR until I saw your post. My hair is very thin now from the picking, and the inevitable pulling of the hair. My body is covered in white dots where I have picked and left a scar. I know exactly why I pick. The instant feeling of relief it provides. I give people such shit for cutting, 'How stupid and ignorant can one person be.' When I understand why they do it. I experience the same thing myself. Yes, it's painful...but the sense of relief I feel while doing it.....makes it okay. I need a fucking banananana now. |

Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
Haven't worn shorts since... oh... elementary school. I fucking hate having this, I'd give anything to get rid of the scars. I've done pretty well for the past year or so but again, the scars will always be there. I have ADD and OCD... but wait, that's not all! TOURETTES syndrome too. It's all about willpower, and occupying yourself with something productive. Sounds easy, but trust me. It's not. Feel your pain, girlie. <3 |
