This often happens to patients in nursing homes where the staff don't change patient's positions, or anyone else who lays in one position for a prolonged time. It doesn't take long for a little red mark to turn into a horrendous wound.

i've heard of elderly people getting "bed sores" but had no idea it could be so extreme.
