Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
I'm terminal. I will die just like that man. I will suffocate to death. I do NOT want to be all drugged up in some nursing home. And yes, I want the bible read to me at that time. And yes, I am a Christian. Those of you who think Christians are against assisted suicide are wrong (Though I don't need any assistance to pull the trigger of a shotgun, thank you). Suicide is a private matter between an individual and God. Please stop assuming that all terminal people want to be drugged out of their minds-that's ridiculous and ignorant. Some of us want to stay in our right minds. Also, go read up on the saturation levels of oxygen in the blood at this stage of lung cancer. I can pretty much guarantee you that at this stage he is in hypoxia to the point where mentally he is already unaware of what is going on around him. |

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
That's not "dying with dignity". That's "prolonging suffering for the benefit of the relatives who are too fucking selfish to either let the one dying make their own choice and end their life, or end it for them when it is 100% definite their life is over, there's no chance for recovery, and that they will be suffering for every moment between now and death". Fuck your prayers. Fuck your selfishness. Fuck the laws that strip people of the right to a dignified death and the right to avoid suffering. |

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
Letting go can be so painful for those left behind-sometimes, if possible, the living need a day or two to come to grips with it. As I said above, I am a Christian, but I believe in people's right to make their decisions. If we were friends in real life and assisted suicide was your wish, I would honor that and be with you through it. But would you let me say a prayer over you? There is a VERY interesting documentary called, "Dying At Grace" on youtube. It's an unflinching look at several terminal patients at Grace hospital who allowed their deaths to be filmed. It shows the many sides of what terminal patients choose to do at the end of life. I highly recommend it. |

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
People who have parkisons and alzheimers do this too. This is what a "natural" death looks like. His breathing was typical of any elder ones death.. not particularly lung cancer. Source: RN 4+ years of working in a nursing home |

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
Fuk sake just give him the morphine and let the pain go...fuk dying in agony..no need for anyone to die in pain or to be lingering...a good doctor will always ensure that the morphine is titrated at a decent level to slow the breathing mechanism sufficiently to bring about death.Anyone ever given meds such as morphine would do well to keep the unused in a safe place until such time as you may need them to off yourself should things be to much for you later in life. Why go to your death in agony when you can go all nice and warm.
