Re: Cycloptic Baby Born in Africa Survives Less Than a Day

I guess 28 seconds is 'under a day'.
Well, yes, yes it is. But one typically would say, "lasted a few seconds" rather than rounding it WAAAAYYYYYYY up to, "lasted less than a day."

Re: Cycloptic Baby Born in Africa Survives Less Than a Day

My question is....could a child with this disease somehow survive if a tracheotomy was performed for breathing and a feeding tube inserted into the stomach for nourishment....
but WHYY would you want him to survive? would be selfish on your part, but then again.. you'd be hurting yourself financially as well. doubt the kid would develop a conscience or personality you could interact with on a normal human being -man to child, mother to son, father to child, etc. level..

If he did, however, develop such a conscience... he would hate you for letting him live a life like that.

That is so so sad. The poor little thing. I am surprised that it even lived long enough to be born.

Re: Cycloptic Baby Born in Africa Survives Less Than a Day

Oh gods. I'm shocked it made it through gestation. It says the baby died in under a day - I'm wondering how it lasted THAT long... how did it breathe??
Yeah I noticed that too... Breathing tends to be important

While I do agree with you in this case, it wasn't so long ago that people felt the same about babies born with Down Syndrome or other developmental disabilities. People who may not be able to connect "normally," but do, nonetheless, absolutely connect. And for the most part, are quite happy to be alive.
