Cryogenic Burns
Cryogenic burns are cold burns caused by liquefied gases. They can cause injury due to their extremely low temperatures by producing skin and tissue changes similar to a thermal burn. The nature of the injury will depend on the temperature, time of exposure and the chemical component of the cryogenic liquid itself. Links to photos here and here |

Re: Cryogenic Burns
Being a computer enthusiast, I see lots of vids etc with people playing with liquid nitrogen..I always wondered....what if? Seen vids on youtube of that kip kay guy shoving his hand in liquid o2 and removing it. due to the heat of his hand, it would bubble off fast..aslong as he didn't leave it sit in there too long. (kinda like when you drop some water on hot steel. it "floats" on the surface from temp gradient difference) |
