I met a guy through a mental health charity here in England who wore a very prominent wrist support. He told me that when he stopped taking his medication he became convinced he had tiny electrical wires in his veins so he slit his wrist with a razor and tried to split the veins open. He showed me his wrist and the scars looked dreadful. He had tried to get at the veins from every angle and had cut tendons and ligaments and nerves. It was carnage. He said he was not even worried about pain, he just had to get the wiring out.
