Chemical Burn.
A 33 years old man showed up at Emergency department with chemical burns from handling paint thinner without gloves. He had 7 hours of direct contact with Klean Strip bilaterally. Klean-strip is composed of Stoddard solvent primarily, a petroleum derived mixture of organic hydrocarbons The patient reported severe burning pain through palm and fingers. The palms of his hand were waxy and discoloured with leather like texture at fingertips. Burns with organic solvent cause corrosive dissolution of lipids, unlike thermal burns, which cause local tissue denaturation and release of local inflammatory mediators due to exothermic reaction.  · |

I don't know how he let it go for 7 hours? I'm a sissy and if even part of my hand looked like that, I'd be running to the hospital.
