Re: Cellulitis Of The Leg

My mum's diabetic and on insulin injections 4x daily. She can develop a hypoglycaemic attack that fast, we have to get her out of it by plying her with fast-sugar-release wine gums & coke. Worse still, we've resorted to the sub-cutaneous glucagen injection. Awful disease :(

The aunt on the father's side of my oldest great niece and great nephew has a monitor she wears all the time.

She has gone into shock several times that I know of. I'd be afraid to leave her with the kids!

I hope Mum is under control, Shaz.

Re: Cellulitis Of The Leg

Have you ever tried dextrose/fructose? Like Dextro Energy? That works really well and quick! My mother had the same thing! You're right, it's an awfull disease.
Yes, she used to have dextrose sweets (they're gros!) but her diabetic clinic recommended high sugar gummy sweets for my mum's needs as they're that bit quicker. She used to have Lucozade sweets too - YUK

Sorry your mum had the same thing

My mum should get a monitor, good idea, I'll suggest it She's gone into shock countless times then has come out of it naturally once her liver kicks in.

She had a hyperglycaemic attack once - blood sugar went up to 25 Her heart stopped and she went into a diabetic coma, it was horrendous. Rapid frequent hypos cause minor brain damage and memory loss and it's beginning to show.

I don't know what the numbers mean yet. My doctor is going to check my urine and blood in three months from when I started the medication.

The monitor, if I understand correctly, is supposed to release insulin as needed. She bakes alot of very sugary things for every family gathering. Some are just too sweet! Nasty sweet!

I was reading some materials from my doctor about the organs diabetes affects. Scary!

My mother lost part of her short term memory with her stroke in 2004. If we pass a place she knew in the 50's or earlier, she'll tell me who lived there or what they bought at which store, where there was a fire, etc.

She cannot remember her grandchildren's names except my nephew, who is named after his dad.

Brain injuries are weird. You never know what you're going to get sometimes. I think her hearing is bad, but, she argues with me. I'll say something and about five minutes later, she'll ask me what I just told her or repeat what I said.

She won't get it tested and refuses to get any tests her doctor orders, unless it won't make her uncomfortable. Forget the colonoscopy!

To me, the worst part of a colonoscopy was drinking that salty shit that doesn't take like which ever flavor you choose! Awful stuff!

I woke up during one and asked, "Am I alright?" The doctor said we were almost done. I didn't feel anything during or after.

Re: Cellulitis Of The Leg

I was diagnosed the same, lost twenty pounds over about two years and it all went away

I lost 25 pounds so that was very encouraging.

I just found out recently from a friend that you can die from cellulitis.

Untreated, it can poison your system. The last of my brothers to die last June had it.

He didn't take care of himself and missed my other two brothers terribly

I'm sorry. I do miss them terribly :'(

My doctor didn't give me any numbers. He just said I was, "in the zone."

When first diagnosed, it was really high.

It's ok to miss them, that's what we are here for, share stories and lives.

Well that's great about your sugar, I'm still a little high in the mornings, was hoping I could quit taking the pills but I don't think it's to be, but that's ok, I'm otherwise pretty healthy.
