India. Guddu was returning home and when he was at the railway station, smoke suddenly began billowing from his pants pocket and as he reached into his pocket to check the device, the phone suddenly exploded.

Due to the blast and subsequent fire, he sustained severe injuries to both of his hands and his private parts.

He later stated that he bought the expensive smartphone from the electronics retailer Digital Lifestyle, located inside the Grand Venice Mall. This is a very well-known and legitimate shopping center in the Delhi region.

The Digital Lifestyle chain (operating via the website DG.com) is generally known in India as a bona fide and authorized retailer of consumer electronics.

The risk of buying a counterfeit or illegal device here is minimal, as they work directly with major brands such as Samsung.

A formal complaint has been lodged directly with the manufacturer via their official channel, SamsungMobile. The exact technical cause of the battery explosion is currently under investigation.

Maybe he dropped it and put the phone back into his pants and the battery was damaged?

Legitimate machine or not, yet one MORE reason not to use a "smart" phone (aka idiot box, portable black mirror, personal data compromiser...).

At least we didn’t have to see his junk.

I was expecting to see his hands blown up not just burned. Glad he didn’t lose his fingers or his other parts. Burns heal.

At least, his skirt is ok!

[AllegedlyHere]

Damn girlfriend keeps blowing up my phone whenever I go hang out with the boys.
