Re: Buffalo Cyst Abscess Popped And Squeezed
When I was a kid and we had to take care of goats we sometimes cleaned abcesses. We never knew what caused them. They were just like this and in a simular location. And squeezed out stuff like this. It was thick white and gooey. We made dang sure not to touch the stuff.

Re: Buffalo Cyst Abscess Popped And Squeezed
It's clearly not too comfortable, but it is necessary. Docs do this with human abscesses, too, and sometimes forceps are used. Abscesses often form pockets, and puncturing just one spot on the cyst doesn't get to all the pus. So you use a finger or a tool to break up the membranes between the pockets. You have to be kind of rough, and it's better to be quick than to drag it out. It looks like the animal was given some local anesthetic, and probably a sedative beforehand since it was lying on the floor. Abscesses hurt enough that the animal would have been jumping all over the place if it hadn't been anesthetized. |
