It will heal up ok if (a) its not on your neck/face/fingers/feet and (b) you can keep it from getting infected in that putrid stage. Bacteria love open sores. Your hands & feet are hard to keep clean & the neck area tends to spread its infections.

I was bit by one in my sleep as a kid. It didn't get this bad. That sucks.
