We don't know the circumstances though. Maybe these are metastases in patients who are terminal. Perhaps if they are going to die anyway they opt not to have a mastectomy? Maybe they just couldn't stop the spread of the cancer with the technology and drugs available?

shit thats bad... a friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with cancer and she was 39 at the time when she got a lump checked out
