Bikers Leg Impaled By Branch
"Foot injury from foreign body impact in a motorcyclist. This young man is a professional motorcycle racer. To train, he drove through a forest and bush track with sharp curves. On one of those turns, a stick sticking out of the tall grass pierced his right foot. He was taken to the nearby hospital to see a specialist. Within 10 days, he underwent three surgeries, mainly to remove the foreign body parts and clean the wound. At his own request, he refrained from using plates and screws in order to keep the whole thing as natural as possible and to minimize later complications (which of course can also arise with his choice)."

Re: Bikers Leg Impaled By Branch
This young man is a professional enduro rider. He pulled over, looked down and thought - “sh*t that’s not good”. He was well deep in the bush and knew not to pull it out. He was rushed to the nearly hospital to see a specialist. Patient said it wasn’t so much painful but he felt pressure on his foot - ended up breaking every bone, multiple dislocations, and a torn artery which luckily wasn’t bleeding due to pressure from the branch root. Currently, he’s past 3 surgeries in 10 days, mostly remove the foreign body pieces and clean out the wound. In 3-4 weeks time he will be getting bone grafts. Trying to avoid plates and screws as he wants it to be as natural as possible so he can continue riding again without complications. |
