Re: Battling My Acne

I don't pick at my spots though I do sometimes knock scabs off when I am cleansing or exfoliating. If I have a very noticeable white/black head, then I will squeeze it but I don't pick away at it.

I know some people are thinking I must be mad to worry about my face as I only have "mild" acne but having adult-onset acne is horrible when you spent your school days having clear skin while all your classmates suffered but now its them who have the clear skin and you wake up looking like a hormonal 13 year old.

Accutane was the only thing that cleared me up. And I tried everything!

Re: Battling My Acne

After around 3 years of having hardly any acne, in the last 6 months my face has flared up again. I'm guessing that the anti-biotic I take has stopped being effective and the skin cream I also apply twice daily just isn't enough so will go and see my doctor to get referral to see a private dermatologist (no 6 month wait for an NHS one for me!)

But until that all happens, I'm being creative. I don't normally wear a lot of make up but when you have pale skin, a ton of spots and low self-esteem you really have to make the effort. So, below, I'm putting a few before and after pictures, along with what I use in my daily routine to try to keep the spots manageable. I'm not fishing for compliments, I just wanted to show how I'm coping and how I'm adapting.
I don`t think your face was bad at all to begin with. When you get older, you aint gonna care what people think anyway. You`re beautiful no matter what !!

Re: Battling My Acne

go natural.. lemons work wonders. drink it(but protect your teeth).. and also put it on your face.

its worth a try and less cost effective than investing in chemicals.

Re: Battling My Acne

You ought to try making bentonite clay masks. Mix just enough water with the clay powder to get it all wet, then smear it all over your face and leave it there until it is completely dry. It will feel like your skin is being tugged on. It sucks out toxins and dirt and crap. You can also mix it in water and drink it to remove toxins and yeast and things from your body, but it's gross. I buy a premixed version that has no taste and isn't gross and I make the masks and my skin is a million times better than what it used to be. Plus it makes your pores look smaller. Also, I don't see how vegetable juice would make your acid reflux worse (I could be wrong) but it seems like the fried foods and pizza would make it bad! Acid reflux sucks terribly. Don't take tums- they will just make it worse.
