They were probably more inbred than just first cousins. Their parents were probably related too. Everyone carries bad genes. The reason inbreeding is bad, is because it shrinks the gene pool and creates many copies of the bad genes! Rather than diluting them with a batch of unrelated ones. This increases the odds of the fetus getting those bad genes. Inbreeding doesn't create things, it just brings out what's already there. Good and bad. That's how we make breeds of animals. |
