Baby born with Raine syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.
Parents are 1st cousins.This is their 4th child; the previous 3 died too. They were born at home and according to the parents they "looked similar to this child".

1st cousins share 12.5% percent of their familial DNA. Cousin marriage was actually very common until it went out of fashion. Saying this couple are idiots and irresponsible is saying the same to a 35+ year old woman who decides to have a baby. That being said, it is not common for child deformity to be an end product of the cousin marriage. It could just happen to be that they carry the same dominant gene to carry unhealthy pregnancy, just like NON consanguineous marriages.

They were probably more inbred than just first cousins. Their parents were probably related too.

Everyone carries bad genes. The reason inbreeding is bad, is because it shrinks the gene pool and creates many copies of the bad genes! Rather than diluting them with a batch of unrelated ones. This increases the odds of the fetus getting those bad genes.

Inbreeding doesn't create things, it just brings out what's already there. Good and bad.

That's how we make breeds of animals.

Thats fucked up, here in Aus its legal for first cousins to marry, never thought they would allow it if these were the consequences of marrige and then having babies!
in the state of Idaho you cant get married if you cuzs,,you need blood test there,to many cuz marry cuz,,lol

Can't remember how many, but in some states it is legal to marry one's first cousin.Here in hawaii it is.I think in old west virginia it has to be...LOL
