she hid it. which I know probably sounds impossible when you look at what she did to herself, but this lady was truly able to hide it efficiently from friends & family long enough until it reached the point of being so severe that people were able to notice that she was even hiding something to begin with. people who suffer from body-focused repetitive behavior disorders, such as skin-picking, hair-pulling, & nail-biting, are literally incapable of resisting the urges to engage in those behaviors. & they rarely ever do it where other people can see them doing it. it's something they feel ashamed of, so they keep it hidden. they can't stop, no matter how much they want to stop.
& it really fucking sucks.

I suffer from excoriation disorder too, though not on this level! My legs, feet, scalp, arms + chest are covered in scars + wounds where I pick at myself.

Though seeing these images has made me barely pick at the worst ones at the moment (on my shins). It's a compulsion that's very hard to ignore. Even when I'm in pain + bleeding everywhere, I still can't stop.

I hope I can get it under control before it gets anywhere near this stage.

I also pull my hair out but not like I used to.

The woman in question is sick, its not just an obsession with picking but it's also an obsession with attention, she used to bleed herself and be taken to hospital where they found her blood count, she injected poo into her body to keep the infections going and yet claims that this is because of bechets or whatever its called ..

Yeah thank you for linking that, I forgot to earlier !! Usually I feel really bad for people who deal with this shit but she did it entirely for attention and wasted medical resources on getting skin grafts that she just ended up doing the same to.
