Retired OB/Gyn nurse here. Could be they were looking for the cause of death themselves. If mom has had several miscarriages it would be important info. Or, if baby died after a car accident or some other reason caused by another person, they would need to prove that the infant was "viable" before charging that person with its death. IDK. Back story would be good to know but this is my best guess. |
