Anthrax

Anthrax once known as woolsorter's disease, is an acute infection and sometimes fatal disease that begins with rapidly necrosing plaques and nodules with serious constitutional symptomes.The disease is produced by a gram positive organisum Bacillus Anthracis . Human infection generally results from exposure to infected animals or handling of hides or other animal products.

AFAIK, anthrax is naturally occuring in the dirt all around us and generally is not a problem unless the body is exposed to large enough amounts, the immune system is compromised or some other fairly rare circumstances.


The military takes particularly nasty strains and somehow makes them (weaponized) more able to cause disease and death.
