Re: Allergic to Water: Aquagenic Urticaria

I have urticaria myself, but it used to be much worse.
My skin would be really red and swollen, it also gives a burning sensation (like after you've accidentally touched poison ivy).
But it faded after a few years, and I eventually got the kind of urticaria that is affected by heat (cannot remember the name of this type) I'd notice it everytime I'd be at the gym on the treadmill, I'd get hot and sweaty, and my arms would start to really itch and get red. Anyways, Urticaria is just fucking annoying. And the only pills you can take are antihistamines, which don't do shit. I've taken them all.
However I think there's some sort of light treatment for the ones that have it in their skin, like I did..
I'm suffering from urticaria for over 4 years now. It covers 90% of my body and looks like I've been rolling naked in nettles. And that's how it feels.

There are different types of urticaria, I used to have dermatographic urticaria. Dermatographic urticaria is caused by pressure on the skin, like scratching it. Mine used to be so bad, I could use my nails on my skin to write letters if I wanted. My skin would be really red and swollen, it also gives a burning sensation (like after you've accidentally touched poison ivy).

Re: Allergic to Water: Aquagenic Urticaria

For about 2 years now every time i shower i come out almost crying because i'm unbearably itchy but i can go swimming at the pool, beaches or rivers and not have problems so the hot water one might be what’s wrong with me but until i see my doctor i will just keep assuming there's something wrong with my water like the chemicals they use to clean it

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that.
Is it tough to sleep at night because of it? It used to be for me. I would scratch my skin until it bled, I hope you get some kind of help. What about the
light treatment I mentioned? I've heard it helps,
but that it's very expensive.

Re: Allergic to Water: Aquagenic Urticaria

Apparently one out of 23 million are allergic to water, even their own sweat and tears. It's an extremely rare skin condition that the girl below, Ashleigh Morris, has had for five years. After having been prescribed a heavy dose of penicillin for tonsillitis, she noticed that after showers she had big red lumps that itched horribly that go away after two hours.
She later found out that penicillin had altered the histamine levels in her body and caused the Aquagenic Urticaria to appear
Some types are temperature allergies such as only hot water or cold, Ashleigh however is allergic to all
Your good looking.
As for the girl that sucks.
