Re: Acne Not Herpes
Saw the dermatologist, the most miserable woman I've ever met and I worked in geriatrics for a while so that's saying something. She asked me to strip to the waist so she could look at my back but I told her I didn't have any acne there. So she wrote "Refused full examination" in massive letters on a piece of paper and underlined it about ten times. She then looked at my face under a magnifier, told me that she thought I should change my current anti-biotic to Lymecycline which is an anti-bacterial and use Differin (Adapalene) cream every evening. She also looked me up and down and commented on me needing a new diet with less carbs, not just for my skin but for my "own sake". If my Mum wasn't with me I'd have said something less than polite to her. She also did something I hate, which was to ask me to tell her which medications I take, when she had a complete list along with dosages on the referral letter on her desk. When I told her they were listed in full there she scowled and said she wanted to hear them from me. Why???? So I spent £100 to be patronized and scowled at by a private dermatologist in a fancy hospital instead of paying nothing and waiting 6 months for the same service on the NHS in a shitty hospital. Am on first week of new meds/cream stuff so will have to give it 2-3 months and see if it works. If it doesn't, she told me I could come back to see her again, at the bargain price of only £50! |

Re: Acne Not Herpes
Extremely unprofessional, hope you don't have to go back to her. I had some doctor being a dick to me during a pre-employment physical giving his personal feelings on my tattoos and generally being a condescending prick - if it weren't for my job i'd have told him to go fuck himself. |

Re: Acne Not Herpes
I have no idea why some people get into medicine when they seem to hate their patients. I hope that my skin gets better but stressing over that stupid bitch just made my skin worse. I can't win. |

Good luck sweetheart I bet it will be fine once things get figured out and on track. I used to get them in spurts quite often:(

Re: Acne Not Herpes
Just went back to my GP and he's put me back on isotretinoin which I've been putting on for about four days now. It really hurts when applied on spots but dries them up like a motherfucker. I'm not going back to that bitch dermatologist for another £100 session of insults. My GP will keep trying stuff and he's free to see.
