My cousin was hit in the chest really hard by a baseball. A year later, cancer developed at the site he was hit. I wonder how many cancers are triggered by trauma? Or is it just the bad luck of the draw on mutations in regrowth of tissue?

I'd say it is a very rare occurrence via physical trauma, otherwise we'd see an epidemic of cancer ridden pro fighters and contact sport athletes.
